Day 4 – August 19th, 2008 – To the Waters of Lake Como

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Lauterbrunnen, paying 173 Swiss Francs (about £92) for our two-night stay. Our next destination was Lake Como in Italy, just 240 kilometres away—but the route took us through twisting Alpine roads and countless tunnels, making it a six-hour journey.

Along the way, we paused several times to let our motorhome cool down. Each stop became a mini picnic—masala tea, chevdo, sandwiches, and plenty of photos. The scenery was spectacular, with every bend revealing a new postcard-perfect view.

We arrived at Costa Azzurra Campsite around 4:00 p.m. It was basic in amenities, but its location right on Lake Como more than made up for it. The warm, crystal-clear water was too inviting to resist, and soon we were all swimming and laughing in the lake.

Later, my son and nephew discovered a small grocery shop nearby and returned with chicken and sausages. We brought out our chairs, lit the barbecues, and enjoyed another lovely evening of grilled food, card games, and drinks. Simple pleasures, perfect memories.
