Day 5 – August 20th, 2008 – Venice Awaits
After breakfast, we checked out of our lakeside haven, paying 39 Euros, and set our sights on Venice—345 kilometres away. Our destination: Camping Ca’Savio, a campsite that felt more like a five-star resort. Swimming pools, restaurants, shops, and a beautiful beach with golden sands—this place had it all.
Once settled, we savoured some masala chai and people-watched from under the awning before heading out to explore. The beach and the pool were irresistible in the warm weather.
In the evening, we returned to our usual routine—wine, beer, and the irresistible aromas of Indian cooking. Our spicy vaghaar (tempering) once again drew curious glances and friendly comments from passing campers. It’s remarkable how food connects people. The scent of sizzling spices was our unofficial cultural ambassador.
