Day 8 – August 23rd, 2008 – From Ferraris to Roman Ruins
After three blissful nights at Ca’Savio, we checked out, paying 145 Euros, and set our course for Maranello—home of the legendary Ferrari. The drive was around 196 kilometres, and anticipation filled the motorhome. For any automobile enthusiast, this was sacred ground.
The Galleria Ferrari did not disappoint. From iconic sports cars and gleaming engines to trophies, driver suits, and racing helmets, the museum celebrated Ferrari’s rich legacy in style. We wandered through the exhibits, dreaming of speed and glory.
After soaking up the world of Formula One, we hit the road again—this time bound for Rome, 406 kilometres away. By evening, we arrived at Camping Flaminio, tucked into the outskirts of the Eternal City. The campsite was lush and lively, with excellent facilities.
As always, we ended the day in our signature style: folding chairs out, barbeques lit, and drinks in hand. Hot dogs for some, and for the rest of us, a comforting dinner of vegetable curry, khichdi, and kadhi. A perfect way to wind down before stepping into history the next day.
