Day 05 – The Journey Home

All good things must come to an end.

After an early breakfast, we packed up and began our return journey, retracing the same route back to Navsari. The drive felt shorter this time—perhaps because our minds were full of memories: rain-soaked mountain roads, lively beaches, laughter, and the simple joy of being together.

But the journey wasn’t quite over yet.

That evening, our dear friends Manubhai and Shobhnaben in Dandi had invited us for dinner. They suggested we meet first at Dandi Beach, a place historically known for the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi—adding a quiet sense of significance to our visit.

When we arrived, Manubhai, Shobhnaben, along with Nayan and Monica, were already by the fishing nets they had set earlier. Nayan carefully checked the nets—and to our delight, luck was on our side. Among the catch was a fine, large seabass.

We headed back to their home, where Manubhai took charge in the kitchen. Soon, the aroma of freshly cooked fish curry filled the air. Served with hot chapatis and rice, and accompanied by chilled beer, it was nothing short of a feast.

It felt like the perfect ending—an unexpected, heartwarming finale to our Goa trip. Sometimes, it’s not just the destination, but the people and moments along the way that make a journey truly unforgettable.

Reflections

This trip was more than just a drive to Goa. It was a journey through landscapes, history, and family bonding. From the dramatic Western Ghats to the laid-back beaches of Goa, every moment carried its own charm.

And sometimes, the best trips are the ones you don’t plan too much—the ones that begin with a simple idea and turn into unforgettable memories.
