A Celebration Across Continents: Sarla’s 60th Birthday Adventure
Introduction
October 2024 became far more than just another month on the calendar for our lively group of family and friends. What began as a reunion soon transformed into an unforgettable journey across bustling cities, sacred temples, misty mountains, tea plantations, tropical beaches, and spontaneous adventures.
At the heart of it all was a very special occasion — Sarla’s 60th birthday.
From Mumbai to Sri Lanka and eventually onward to Goa, every day brought new memories, laughter, surprises, and moments of gratitude. This journey was not only about destinations, but also about friendship, family bonds, shared stories, and celebrating life together.
Day 01 – 13 October 2024
Reunion in Mumbai – The Journey Begins
Our adventure began on 13 October 2024 with an early train journey to Mumbai. Travelling with me were Hansa, Girish, and Bharti as we made our way to meet Sarla and Jay, who had flown in from Los Angeles.
The excitement grew with every passing mile. After reaching Mumbai, we headed straight to the airport where Sarla and Jay emerged from arrivals with tired smiles that instantly turned into warm embraces and cheerful laughter. It felt as though no time had passed at all.
From the airport, we made our way to the elegant Sea Princess Hotel in Juhu, where Ashok soon joined us. Reliable as always, Ashok helped us complete our Sri Lankan e-visa formalities — an important task made effortless by his calm efficiency.
As evening settled over Mumbai, we gathered for dinner at China Gate. The night became even more meaningful as we raised a toast in memory of Ashok’s late father. What started as a simple dinner evolved into a heartfelt evening of stories, memories, and togetherness.
It was the perfect beginning to a journey that would soon take us far beyond India’s shores.
