Our second day in Barcelona was dedicated to exploring this vibrant and colourful Mediterranean city, famous for its stunning architecture, lively streets, beautiful beaches, and rich Catalan culture. After breakfast at the campsite, we made our way by tram into the city centre — a comfortable half-hour journey covering around 20 kilometres. Travelling by public transport gave us a wonderful opportunity to observe everyday life in Barcelona while enjoying views of the bustling suburbs and coastline along the way.
One of the highlights of the day was visiting the magnificent Basílica de la Sagrada Família. The breathtaking church, designed by the legendary architect Antoni Gaudí, left us absolutely mesmerised. Its towering spires, intricate carvings, and extraordinary blend of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles make it unlike any other church in the world. Even after more than a century of construction, the sheer beauty and detail of the basilica are truly awe-inspiring.
After spending some time admiring the church and taking plenty of photographs, we wandered through the lively streets of Barcelona, soaking in the atmosphere of this energetic city. Street performers entertained crowds, cafés spilled onto pavements, and the city buzzed with tourists and locals alike. To make the experience even more memorable, we enjoyed a fun tricycle rickshaw ride through the city streets, giving us a relaxed and entertaining way to take in the sights and sounds around us.
By lunchtime, our appetites had certainly built up, and we stopped at Wok to Walk for a satisfying meal. The freshly cooked stir-fried dishes were full of flavour and provided the perfect break before continuing our sightseeing adventure.
Later in the afternoon, we enjoyed a leisurely walk along Barcelona’s famous seaside promenade. With the Mediterranean breeze, palm-lined pathways, sandy beaches, and views of the sparkling sea, it was easy to understand why Barcelona is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful coastal cities. The relaxed atmosphere along the waterfront provided the perfect ending to a wonderful day of exploration.
As evening approached, we returned to Camping 3 Estrellas for our second night there, tired but thoroughly delighted after another memorable day on our European adventure.
