27 February 2026 – Tsavo East and Voi

After a lovely breakfast we checked out and headed towards Voi with Don in the safari vehicle. After about an hour’s drive we reached Voi Wildlife Lodge. At reception there was a Ganesh temple, where we offered our prayers before settling in.

After a short rest, we resumed our safari in Tsavo East. Don warned us that because it had rained all night, there was less chance of seeing major wildlife. Even so, the day was full of sightings. We saw zebras, giraffes, baboons, deer, antelopes, buffaloes, and huge elephants.

We also managed to see a leopard beside its hunted animal, one of the most thrilling moments of the safari. Later one of the rangers reported that a lion had been seen a few miles away. Immediately many safari vehicles raced towards the spot, causing quite a traffic jam in the bush. In the end, we hardly saw anything more than the lion’s tail, but even that caused excitement.

Soon a light drizzle began, and by evening we returned to the lodge. At dinner we again enjoyed Tusker beer along with a very good spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
