Day 06 – 18 October 2024
Farewell Sri Lanka – And an Unexpected Turn Toward Goa
Our final morning in Sri Lanka began with another wonderful breakfast at Cinnamon Bey Beruwala.
But this breakfast came with a delightful surprise.
To celebrate Sarla’s 60th birthday, the hotel staff presented a beautifully decorated cake, turning our farewell morning into a truly memorable celebration.
After days spent exploring sacred temples, tea plantations, waterfalls, beaches, and mountain roads, it was finally time to begin the long drive to Bandaranaike International Airport near Colombo for our return flight to Mumbai.
As we left the coastline behind, we thanked Shiromi and our driver Sanath for their kindness, care, and companionship throughout the journey.
Their warmth and hospitality became an important part of our Sri Lankan experience.
Sri Lanka had given us unforgettable memories — from the cultural heart of Kandy and the misty hills of Nuwara Eliya to the peaceful beaches of Bentota.
As our journey came to an end, Sri Lanka left us with memories of sacred temples, endless tea gardens, warm smiles, mountain mist, tropical sunsets, and friendships strengthened through travel.
Goodbye Sri Lanka — until next time.
Back in Mumbai, however, the celebrations were far from over.
At the lively Tanatan Restaurant in Juhu, the night sparkled with music, laughter, and celebration. Somewhere between conversations and spontaneous excitement, a new idea suddenly emerged.
Instead of returning home to Gujarat by train as originally planned, we cancelled our train tickets and impulsively booked flights to Goa.
The birthday celebrations were continuing.
