Day 10 – 22 October 2024
Homeward Bound
By 22 October, it was finally time to begin the journey back home.
We flew into Surat, where an Urbania van awaited to take us onward toward Gujarat.
Late that night, we stopped at Shital Restaurant for dinner — a moment that brought both nourishment and nostalgia after so many days on the road.
The restaurant manager kindly arranged a wheelchair for Hansa, another reminder of the kindness we encountered throughout the trip.
Because of Hansa’s injury, Sarla and Jay decided to stay back in Kakrad for a few days before continuing onward.
As the journey finally came to an end, we realized this trip had become far more than a birthday celebration.
It was a journey of friendship, spontaneity, shared experiences, unexpected detours, and unforgettable memories.
From sacred temples in Sri Lanka to the beaches of Goa, every destination had added its own unique chapter to Sarla’s 60th birthday adventure.
And somewhere along the way, the journey itself became the true celebration.
Closing Reflections
Travel has a remarkable way of bringing people closer together.
This journey across Sri Lanka and Goa reminded us that the best adventures are rarely the ones planned perfectly. They are the ones filled with laughter during delays, unexpected decisions, shared meals, roadside conversations, spontaneous detours, and moments of kindness from strangers.
Sarla’s 60th birthday became not just a celebration of one milestone, but a celebration of friendship, family, health, memories, and the joy of continuing to explore the world together.
Until the next adventure begins.
