Our next day was spent exploring the elegant and cosmopolitan city of Geneva, one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland and an important global centre for diplomacy, banking, and international organisations. Nestled along the shores of the stunning Lake Geneva and surrounded by the majestic Alps and Jura mountains, Geneva offers a perfect combination of natural beauty, history, and modern sophistication.

After breakfast at Camping Relais du Léman, we made our way towards the city, enjoying scenic views of the lake and the immaculate Swiss countryside along the journey. The moment we entered Geneva, we were struck by how clean, organised, and peaceful everything appeared. Beautiful flower displays, luxury boutiques, cafés, and elegant architecture gave the city a distinctly refined atmosphere.

One of the highlights of our visit was seeing the world-famous Jet d’Eau, the city’s iconic water fountain that shoots water nearly 140 metres into the air from Lake Geneva. Visible from many parts of the city, the fountain has become a symbol of Geneva and provided a spectacular backdrop for countless photographs.

We spent time strolling along the lake promenade, where locals and tourists alike relaxed by the waterfront, enjoyed boat rides, or simply admired the breathtaking scenery. The crystal-clear waters of the lake, combined with views of distant mountains, created a truly postcard-perfect setting. Swans glided peacefully across the water while luxury yachts and ferries added to the charm of the lakeside atmosphere.

As we explored further, we wandered through Geneva’s charming Old Town, with its narrow cobbled streets, historic buildings, hidden squares, and quaint cafés. The city beautifully blends old-world charm with modern elegance. We also passed several important international landmarks, including the European headquarters of the United Nations and the famous International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, both of which highlight Geneva’s importance on the world stage.

Of course, no visit to Geneva would be complete without admiring the city’s reputation for luxury watches and Swiss chocolates. The shop windows displayed some of the world’s finest timepieces and irresistible handmade chocolates, adding yet another layer of temptation during our walk through the city centre.

After a full day of sightseeing, photography, and soaking in the relaxed Swiss atmosphere, we returned to our campsite feeling thoroughly impressed by Geneva’s beauty and sophistication. The combination of stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings, and rich international character made it another unforgettable stop.

Back at the campsite, we relaxed on the patio and unwound after a wonderful day of sightseeing. I enjoyed a refreshing cider while Pruts and Raj settled down with a few cold beers. Meanwhile, the ladies sipped chilled wine as they prepared yet another delicious evening meal — a flavourful egg curry served with rice and warm pitta bread. Surrounded by good company, laughter, and the peaceful atmosphere of the campsite, it was the perfect way to end another memorable day of our European adventure.
