After leaving the peaceful surroundings near Geneva, we embarked on yet another demanding but exciting journey across Europe. This leg of the trip involved an impressive 842-kilometre drive that took us nearly nine hours, travelling through changing landscapes, motorways, and countryside as we made our way north towards Belgium.

By evening, we arrived at Holiday Village Knokke, located near the charming Belgian coastal town of Knokke-Heist. After such a long day on the road, the campsite provided a welcome opportunity to relax and recharge. The area had a calm holiday atmosphere, with easy access to nearby towns and the beautiful Belgian coastline.

Not wanting to waste any time, we decided to take a train to the stunning medieval city of Bruges, often referred to as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The train journey itself was comfortable and scenic, giving us our first glimpses of the picturesque Flemish countryside.

The moment we arrived in Bruges, it felt as though we had stepped back in time. The city’s cobbled streets, beautifully preserved medieval buildings, charming canals, and historic market squares created a magical atmosphere unlike anywhere else we had visited on the trip. Horse-drawn carriages gently rolled through the narrow streets, adding even more charm and romance to this fairy-tale city.

We spent hours simply wandering around and admiring the architecture, with every corner offering another postcard-perfect view. The city’s historic churches, quaint cafés, and traditional Belgian buildings made Bruges feel peaceful, elegant, and wonderfully authentic. The canals reflecting the old stone buildings and glowing streetlights added to the city’s unforgettable beauty.

After all the walking and sightseeing, we stopped for a well-deserved pizza dinner at a local restaurant, where we relaxed and reflected on yet another incredible day of our European adventure. Sitting in the heart of such a historic city while enjoying good food and wonderful company made the experience even more special.

Later that evening, we caught the train back to Holiday Village Knokke, tired but absolutely enchanted by Bruges. Without doubt, it was one of the most beautiful and memorable cities we had visited during our journey through Europe.
